GearMotive Z-SEQ-5 Sequential for rally, circuit, drift and drag racing
The GearMotive Z-SEQ-5 Sequential Dogbox is based on the same proven gear technology as our well-known H-pattern dogbox. Its gears and shafts have been successfully used across Rally, Circuit, Drifting and Drag racing, with the gearset proven in applications producing over 1100 Nm. Two different ratio options make the transmission suitable for a wide range of motorsport disciplines.
The proven gearset is combined with a sequential shifting mechanism for fast, consistent and precise gear changes. A BMW ZF bellhousing is paired with our custom-manufactured rear housing, retaining the same overall dimensions as the original ZF rear housing. This allows the GearMotive Z-SEQ-5 Sequential to serve as a bolt-on replacement for the original BMW ZF S5D transmission.
The GearMotive Sequential Shifter installs in the original shifter location and features a self-centering mechanism and lightweight aluminium construction. Integrated shift-cut sensing enables flat-shift functionality when used with the required electronics.
The system can be combined with the GearMotive touchscreen Gear Display and Electronic Control Module (ECM), providing real-time gear position information and configurable parameters such as shift-cut sensitivity. The ready-made electronic system connects the shifter, gear position sensor and display and can be integrated with a compatible aftermarket ECU.
For high-power and demanding motorsport applications, a Heavy Duty input shaft option is also available.
From drifting and rally to circuit and drag racing, the GearMotive Z-SEQ-5 Sequential has proven itself in real competition – providing the performance of a true sequential transmission in a compact, ZF-based package.

Electric Kit (Display, ECM, Wiring)
Electric kit comes with: a touch screen display, ECM (Electric Control Module) and wiring kit.
- Display shows the current gear position, and offers configuring options for gear position and shift cut adjusting
- ECM is a control box combining the functions of display and shifter.
ECM can be also wired into the after market ECU for gear display or shift cut functionality
UPCOMING: ECM Will be able to control shift cut for stock ECUs - Wiring kit is very easy to install with ready made wires and connectors. Wiring kit combines Gearbox, Shifter, Display and ECM together

Bellhousing
Z-SEQ-5 Sequential dogbox requires ZF S5D model bell housing to fit it into the engine. Z-SEQ-5 Sequential is designed in a such way that bell housing is a part of the gearbox and oil space. This has allowed us to make the gearbox so small and is a bolt on to replace S5D stock box or existing GearMotive ZF dogboxes.
- Z-SEQ-5 Sequential can be mated with any ZF S5D bellhousing. Suitable bell housing models are (Number in bell housing):
